Barton women’s volleyball downed by Limestone in three sets on the road

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-8, 4-4) fell to Limestone (11-6, 7-1), 3-0, in a Conference Carolinas match Friday evening at the Timken Center. 

The Saints won by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 26-24 and defeated the Bulldogs for the second time this year.  Limestone also won its third straight contest and took over sole possession of first place in the league's East Division.

Limestone was led by Vanessa Blas (Concord, N.C.) with 10 kills while Mia Bergan (Aberdeen, S.C.) added 30 assists and 10 digs as the Saints limited the Bulldogs to a 0.070 hitting percentage in the win.

Barton freshman outside hitter Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) led the way with a team-high 15 kills and sophomore setter Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) added a double-double – 19 assists and 12 digs – in the losing effort.  Barton was playing its first road contest in conference play on the season.

Barton looks to return to its winning ways when the Bulldogs travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on Converse in a league match Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Limestone hosts Chowan Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m., as well.
