WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (7-6, 4-3) wrapped up its nine-match home stand with a 3-0 sweep of Lees-McRae (5-11, 3-3) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Ralph L. Fike High School.
The Bulldogs defeated the Bobcats by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 28-26 and increased their winning streak to three matches.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) with a match-high 12 kills while freshman setter Megan McCain (Trinity, Fla.) added 16 assists and eight digs as the Bulldogs swept their third straight opponent as well. Barton also totaled 10 service aces and limited Lees-McRae to a .124 hitting percentage for the afternoon. Gambill is second on the team in kills with 163.
Lees-McRae was paced by Abby Wordsworth (Greenville, N.C.) with 10 kills and Kaitlyn Arentz (Lakeville, Minn.) totaled 21 digs but the Bobcats' two-match winning streak was halted.
Barton hits the road for the first time in over a month when the Bulldogs travel to Pembroke, N.C., to take on UNC Pembroke Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., while Lees-McRae hosts North Greenville next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
