Turnovers prove costly in Barton’s double-digit loss to Division I UNC Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Barton College women's basketball team committed a season-high 26 turnovers as the Lady Bulldogs fell 82-55 to Division I opponent UNC Greensboro on Monday night in Fleming Gymnasium.

Barton led 13-9 midway through the first quarter of play, carrying a 14-13 lead to the end of the opening period. However, the Spartans outscored BC 18-12 in the second quarter to claim a 31-26 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, a layup from junior Caila Carter made the score 46-44 in favor of UNCG with 47 remaining in the period. The Spartans scored 32 points in the fourth and final quarter, holding Barton to just 11 points to secure the 27-point victory.

Freshman Kianna Wynn finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes of action for her fifth double-double of the season, while sophomore Tatyana Jackson was the only other Lady Bulldog in double figures as she totaled 15 points.

BC hosts Elizabeth City State University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, December 9 at 5:30 p.m. in Wilson Gymnasium.
