LEXINGTON, Ky. – Barton College's Angelos Mandilaris has been named a 2019 AVCA NCAA Division I-II Men's Honorable Mention All-American.  AVCA is the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Mandilaris, a junior right side hitter from Chalkida, GREECE, is a two-time Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year (2018-19) and a three-time first-team all-league selection (2017-19) who led the Bulldogs to their best season ever in 2019.

This spring, Mandilaris finished with a league-high and school record 466 kills in addition to 48 service aces, 145 digs and 73 blocks while earning league player-of-the-week accolades five times.  Mandilaris – who ranks second all-time in school history in kills (1,143) – spearheaded the Bulldogs to a 25-5 record including a 14-2 mark in league play in 2019.

Barton also won both the Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Championships this year and hosted an NCAA Division I-II Championship Opening Round contest for the first time ever against Princeton.  Barton senior outside hitter Vasilis Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) was a 2017 Honorable Mention All-American.

The 2019 selections were made by the AVCA NCAA Division I-II Men's Volleyball All-America Committee: chairperson Dan Friend (Lewis); Alan Knipe (Long Beach State), Rick McLaughlin (UC Santa Barbara), Jeff Lennox (Barton), Ryan Booher (King), Danny Goncalves (NJIT), Mike Rumbaugh (Saint Francis), Mark Hulse (Loyola-Chicago), Shawn Olmstead (BYU), Jeff Nygaard (Southern California).
