WILSON, N.C. – In a match that lasted just 57 minutes, the Barton College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-11) Conference Carolinas win over Lees-McRae College on Senior Day in Wilson Gymnasium.
The win was the 12th straight for Barton, as the team now stands a 17-7 overall and 12-1 in league play. Lees-McRae fell to 10-16 overall and 6-8 in the conference following the loss.
Micol totaled 11 kills behind a .421 hitting percentage, while Kedzia posted seven kills and nine digs. Peed registered five digs on defense and one service ace.
The Lady Bulldogs hit a season-high .404 as a team, including a .667 mark and nine kills from sophomore Allie Cullens. Cullens also had four total blocks in the match, while fellow sophomore Hayley Marshburn led all players with 14 kills to go with a .429 hitting percentage. Sophomore Setter Angelica Acevedo has her 10th double-double of the year with 35 assists and 11 digs, as redshirt-sophomore Riley Bane turned in three service aces and a match-high 15 digs on defense.
After trailing 4-3 early in the first set, Barton took control and never looked back. BC ended the set on a 6-2 run, taking the win on a Marshburn kill.
Barton never trailed for the remainder of the match, ending the second set with five unanswered points and the third with a 4-0 run to seal the outcome.
BC's final regular season home game will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the Lady Bulldogs welcome Pfeiffer University to Wilson Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. first serve.
