Melissa Cochran has played in 52 matches for the Lady Bulldogs over her first two seasons at Barton. Cochran has produced 500 kills, 162 (66-96) blocks, 39 digs, four aces and one assist over that span.
The nursing major has been named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll in three of her first four semesters at Barton. Cochran was named Co-Freshman of the Year in Conference Carolinas in 2011 and team MVP in 2012. She ranked 31st nationally with a hitting percentage of 0.35 her sophomore season.
Cochran was a team captain and two-time All-Conference selection in high school before graduating with numerous academic awards and achievements. She was the Tom Suiter Award extra effort award winner her senior season.
Cochran cheers for the Saint Louis Rams, Duke basketball and the New York Yankees. Her favorite food is chocolate; and movies are Sweet Home Alabama and Mulan. Cochran would like to visit the Bahamas and the rest of the Caribbean. She plans to become a nurse after college and live near the beach.
