ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Competing for the second straight day, the Barton women's swimming team easily downed UNC Pembroke by a 205-42 score in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Harrison Family YMCA.
The Bulldogs dominated the entire meet, winning all 16 competitions over the Braves.
Barton was led by junior Annika Jasek-Rysdahl (Turlock, Calif.), who finished first in three events: the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:43.05), the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.66) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.04). Jasek-Rysdahl was also part of the Bulldogs' first-place 200-yard individual medley relay (1:55.42).
Freshman Adalaya Nemitz (Waxhaw, N.C.) also won a pair of races for the Bulldogs - the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.36) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.53) – and was part of the Bulldogs' winning 200-yard freestyle relay squad (1:43.07).
Another member of Barton freestyle relay team – sophomore Kleanza Cathers (Kitimat, British Columbia, CANADA) – was the top overall swimmer in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.36), the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.22) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.87).
The Barton women's swimming team will return to competition on Friday, November 30, and Saturday, December 1, when the squad competes in Randolph-Macon's Yellow Jacket Invitational in Richmond, Va.
