HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College sophomore Kleanza Cathers has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Cathers recorded four individual event victories through two meets for the Bulldogs as BC recorded its first win if the season against the Virginia Military Institute on Saturday.
The Kitimat, Canada native finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard IM, and 500-yard freestyle. She also was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that tallied a second-place finish against the Catholic University of America on Friday.
Cathers is receiving swimmer of the week accolades for the second time as a member of the program. She garnered the award once last season in her freshman campaign for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs head to Raleigh, N.C. on Oct. 27 for a tri-meet against William Peace University and league member King University. The event is hosted by William Peace and will begin at 1 p.m. BC hosts the University of Mary Washington on Nov. 3 in Rocky Mount, N.C. at 1 p.m.
