Barton women’s golf tied for fourth after day one of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship

HARTWELL, Ga. – The Barton College women's golf team shot a 320 (+32) and sits in a fourth-place tie after the first round Sunday of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship which is taking place at the Cateechee Golf Club.

Limestone carded a 299 (+11) on the par-72, 5,831-yard course and leads Converse by 16 strokes after the first 18 holes of play.  Limestone's Pilar Martinez and Converse's Tyler Dawson are currently tied for first at the top of the individual leaderboard.  Both players shot an ever-par 72.

For Barton, senior Sydney Turner (Montgomery, Ala.) leads the squad after finishing the first round tied for ninth overall with a six-over 78.  In addition, freshman Shalie Williams (Shawboro, N.C.) fired a 79 (+7) – good for an 11th-place tie – for the Bulldogs as well.

The second round of the three-round tournament takes place on Monday.
