Barton men’s volleyball keeps rolling with 3-0 sweep of Erskine for seventh straight victory

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (13-3, 8-1) brushed off a lengthy layover with a 3-0 road sweep of Erskine (5-14, 3-7) Friday night in a Conference Carolinas match at Belk Arena.

The Bulldogs – who won by scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-21 – pushed their winning streak to seven matches and are now 13-1 in their last 14 contests.

Barton was led once again by junior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with 22 kills and a .543 hitting percentage while junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) added 35 assists as the Bulldogs swept the season series from the Flying Fleet and remained in sole possession of first place in the league standings.  Mandilaris leads the team in kills with 244 as well.

Erskine was led by Lancy Aldebol (San Juan, PUERTO RICO) with 10 kills but the Flying Fleet suffered their third straight setback.  Barton freshman outside hitter Adrian Iglesias (Guaynabo, PUERTO RICO) added nine kills and seven digs as the Bulldogs hit .365 for the match.

Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in a league contest Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga., while Erskine hosts Mount Olive on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
