Breven Bell enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Barton men's basketball program in 2017-18.
Bell joined the Barton staff after serving for two seasons as a coaching intern with Nazareth College, an NCAA Division III program based in his hometown of Rochester, N.Y. Bell had heavy video and scouting responsibilities for the Golden Flyers. Over his two years with the program, Nazareth posted a record of 28-14 and made the Empire 8 Conference Tournament both seasons. in 2015-16, the staff was honored as the Empire 8 Co-Coaching Staff of the Year.
He spent the spring and summer serving as associate head coach of the Rochester Area Players (RAP) Stars, which competed in the AAU Division I Nationals at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The team compiled a 7-1 record and reached the championship game. He previously coached a number of other top-level AAU teams out of upstate New York.
Bell is a certified high school referee, and serves as a substitute teacher at Greenfield School. He is married to Michelle. They have an English bulldog, Oliver, and two cats, Thomas and Taco Bell.
